Acura TL receives highest rating in new frontal crash test
Acura's impressive history of safety innovations has once again been burnished by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The TL* is one of only two vehicles that received the highest possible ("Good") rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's first application of a new small overlap frontal crash test that was conducted on 11 luxury sedans. The latest addition to a suite of tests designed to help consumers pick the safest vehicles, this one is designed to replicate what often happens when the front corner of a car collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole. "Nearly every new car performs well in other frontal crash tests conducted by the Institute and the federal government, but we still see more than 10,000 deaths in frontal crashes each year," Institute President Adrian Lund said. "Small overlap crashes are a major source of these fatalities. This new test program is based on years of analyzing real-world frontal crashes and then replicating them in our crash test facility to determine how people are being seriously injured and how cars can be designed to protect them better. We think this is the next step in improving frontal crash protection."

ILX Preview Event thrills Acura enthusiasts
EXPLORE ILX FEATURES A select group of consumers was invited to join Acura for a weekend at the W Hotel in San Francisco to test drive the ILX before it became available to the public. Guests were treated to a stylish dinner reception at the W, where they got acquainted with the other participants, as well as Acura designers and executives. Saturday was a full day of Acura nirvana, beginning with a formal presentation from Acura executives and designers about the ILX, including the story of its development and the in-depth thinking that went into bringing it to market. Then the guests got to drive the actual ILX. First, they pushed the car nearly to its limits with professional drivers on a closed course with a full acceleration test, a braking test, and high-speed turns. Then, after a relaxing lunch, they got to experience the more civilized side of the ILX out on the open road during a 60-mile round-trip drive to the California coastal town of Half Moon Bay. What did they have to say about their experiences? Watch the video to find out.
Introducing the Acura Environmental Leadership Award
Acura is advancing its commitment to the environment with the creation of the Acura Environmental Leadership Award, an initiative that invites Acura dealers throughout the U.S. to voluntarily reduce the environmental impact of their dealerships. There are three levels of the Award: the Silver Award is given to Acura dealers who achieve a 10 percent or greater reduction in their overall energy use, develop a water use reduction plan, and implement a comprehensive recycling program. Gold Award recipients must achieve continuous improvement in their reduction and conservation efforts above and beyond the Silver level. The top-level Platinum Award is reserved for Acura dealers whose energy-efficient facilities earn a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Acura is introducing more fuel-efficient vehicles, including our first ever gas-electric hybrid car, the ILX Hybrid. It's produced in our Greensburg, Indiana plant1, one of two plants in North America that produce Acura vehicles while sending absolutely no waste to landfills. Find out which dealers were the recipients of the first Acura Environmental Leadership Award.

The Acura blind spot information system was engineered to assist you when making lane changes. If it detects a vehicle in an adjacent lane that's in your blind spot, an indicator located on the inside A-pillar garnish will light up to catch your attention.
