New TL showcases Acura's "Keen Edge" design

The all-new 2009 TL has a highly evocative design that features Acura's "Keen Edge Dynamic" styling philosophy, which fuses precise, machined surfaces with natural, free-flowing design elements for an emotional, dramatic response.

"We wanted to move it to more of a visually aerodynamic image," said TL exterior designer, Art Osborne. "It has a strong, aggressive presence and a "motion surface" that creates continuity from front to back, marrying efficiency and fluidity with an edginess and sportiness. We wanted to make you feel like you're not only getting into the car, you are part of the car."

The design philosophy carries from the exterior to the interior, as the designers worked together to create a seamless look. The interior design places special emphasis on engaging the driver.

The end result is a striking look that signals the car's performance abilities. This unique styling philosophy, boldly expressed in the new TL, is testimony that even in design, Acura is always advancing.

Acura teams up with Dwell Magazine

Dwell, the leading architecture and design magazine, recently hosted the Home Tours Weekend show in San Francisco that featured five spectacular homes with an Acura MDX parked in each driveway. We had a chance to speak with Dwell's publisher, Michela O'Connor Abrams, who coincidentally, is an MDX owner.

Q: What do you think Dwell readers and Acura owners have in common?
A: They are an inquisitive, intelligent, critical group that cares about good design and quality. They are independent thinkers who are not slaves to badges – they like to find a brand that stands for design and technology.

Q: What made the MDX the right vehicle to pair with these homes?
A: Because its design clearly came first. We wanted a partnership that highlighted design and luxury. Like the homes we showcase, the MDX is a wise investment.

Q: What do you like most about your MDX?
A: Design is really important to me, and the MDX has a clean design, inside and out. It exudes luxury without being ostentatious and has every amenity without superfluous gadgets that I would never use. The nav system is by far the best I've ever used – I can find everything so easily. I also love the way the MDX drives, and it's very fuel efficient for its class. Plus, it's extremely roomy. I know friends with larger SUVs that can't hold seven passengers like mine can. My husband is in the wine business, and with the seats down, it can hold 17 cases of wine! In fact, I've been so happy with Acura over the years, I insisted that my parents each buy one.
