|  | Tyson Hugie is a man on a mission. He embarked on a journey to reach 500,000 miles in his 1994 Acura Legend coupe, and since March, has been documenting his adventures on his blog, DriveToFive. Tyson purchased his Legend in 2003 with fewer than 100,000 miles on it and has driven the remaining 400,000 miles over the last eight years. He tightly orchestrated it so that he would roll into Honda headquarters in Torrance, California for his 500,000th mile on November 4th.
Where has Tyson racked up all those miles? He lives in Arizona, visits his family in Utah, meets up with friends in California and escapes from his job as a data analyst by hitting the open road as often as he can, visiting nearly 40 of the 50 states. Tyson grew up in a car-enthusiast family, and the very first set of wheels he drove at age 16 was his mother's Legend. He's been so faithful to his current model that after hitting 299,000 miles and two deer in two days near Austin, Texas, he spent thousands of dollars to repair the Legend rather than to part with it—a bold move he is proud to have made.
On November 4th, Tyson hit the 500,000-mile mark as he pulled into Acura's headquarters in Torrance, California where a celebration was held in his honor, including a lunch with Acura executives and some special guests. Tyson entertained his guests with stories about his Legend, from favorite road trips to how he has maintained his vehicle and what he has in store for the future.
