With a tradition spanning over 60 years now, the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is renowned for its annual competition of automotive elegance. Only the 200 best collector cars in the world roll onto the legendary 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, and only a handful of those will receive official recognition for style, technical merit and historical accuracy. | This Friday, August 19th, Legends of the Autobahn® returns to Monterey Car at the Nicklaus Club in Monterey, California. Be a part of the celebration of the world's pre-eminent German vehicle brands. Co-organized by the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Mercedes-Benz at Legends of the Autobahn will feature a special performance class for cars that have been modified or tuned, as well as Mercedes-Benz automobiles with a racing history. The Mercedes-Benz Classic Center will display the 1963 220 SEb Rally Fintail, a recreation of the Heckflosse sedan that found success in endurance rallies in the early 1963. One out of only 830 280 SL vehicles built for the final 1971 model year of the iconic "Pagoda" 280 SL series, this unrestored, highly original 280 SL was completed in November 1970 and sold new at Inskip Motors in Providence, Rhode Island on January 21, 1971. Confirmed by Mercedes-Benz Classic to be a low mileage, matching numbers, unrestored, original car with one respray in its original color of Red Metallic (DB 571). Recent work performed by Mercedes-Benz Classic included a full engine rebuild, full service and repairs as needed of all drivetrain components and mechanical systems. The car presents in overall excellent, preserved condition, following a complete vehicle detailing including underbody at Mercedes-Benz Classic, and is a testament to a lifetime of exceptional caretaking, minimal use and professional preservation.
